The front desk features carved charred wood motifs indicative of wood carving in traditional Hawaiian culture. The space is modern but approachable a fresh take on Hawaiian and specifically Waikiki culture. Our lobby lounge is enveloped in rich blues and greens. The walls are adorned in a hand painted kintsugi pattern. The Japanese art of repairing broken pottery in metallic lacquer to highlight the seams created in objects that are flawed but cherished. Romer Houses lobby and restaurant 855-Aloha flow into one anothers space while open on all sides is warm and inviting. Enveloped in wood with oversized fabric pendants above casting a warm glow. Murals by local artist Solario flank the windows and recall his Hawaiian telephone campaign. The corner space evokes nature the cornerstone of both Hawaiian and Japanese culture with plants above and abstract Japanese watercolor paintings in the surround. The grand steps lands at the entry and immediately leads one up to the pool deck through a portal of carved sculpture masks a textural study again referencing the balance of art and nature. Our elevated pool deck provides a heated wading pool with a continuous row of softly upholstered daybeds and lush plants as a backdrop. The sculptural bar faces the pool anchored by sweeping pendants reminiscent of palms above.
